After 47 years of keeping his loyal customers fed, everywhere from Mulberry Street in Manhattan to Rocky's on rt 32 in Monticello, Rocky Morelli has found himself woven into the community that is his home away from home in beautiful Saugerties NY.
Family, friends, and the community have always been his biggest sources of motivation for keeping his people fed, because as any true Italian knows “We aren’t serving customers we are serving family” From catering movie sets to brushing elbows in the community with the likes of artist/sculptor Louise Nevelson, musicians Frank Sinatra and Donna Summer, the Scorsese’s, actors Eric Roberts, Eli Wallach, Tony Musante, Mickey Rourke, even the famous Prince Albert of Monaco, and many many more as the list is endless.
Offering classic Italian dishes like Veal Scalloponi and Eggplant Parmigiana as well as his own specialty creations like Rocky's Pepperanota (Pan fried breaded sweet red peppers olives and cappers) Lets also not forget about the wood fired wings marinated over night with onions, hot cherry peppers, and herbs. The wood fired oven is also turning out pizzas made with homemade mozzarella cheese which he makes from scratch every morning. That’s the same Mozzarella he puts into his Caprese salad. The point is, you may not see Bella Luna advertising on the front page of a magazine, but if you ask anyone between Mulberry street in Manhattan and Saugerties New York if they know Rocky Morelli and his food the answer is always “yes”
followed up by them saying
“You have to try the Putanesca!”
